Rahul Dravid’s son Samit slams double century in Under-14 State match

Former Indian cricket team captain and batting stalwart Rahul Dravid’s son, Samit, has made into the headlines as he scored a double century in the Under-14 match yesterday as he led his team Vice-President’s XI in the game. Leading from the from, Samit scored 201 runs off 256 balls in the first innings against the Dharwad zone in Karnataka state inter-zonal cricket match.

Samit’s innings constituted 22 boundaries as he showed his batting skills by hitting the boundaries in every direction of the ground. Samit, the elder son of Dravid, lived up to the expectations and played a remarkable inning of the double century. 

The 14 years old continued with his good form as he scored 94* runs, six runs short of his century. Samit also took 3 wickets by conceding 26 runs with the ball. The match ended in a draw, however, Samit’s noteworthy all-round performance was the only take away points from the match. 

Samit first hit the headlines in 2015 at the U-12 level cricket in Bengaluru by slamming three half-centuries while playing for his school Mallya Aditi International. All his three fifties came in match-winning causes. Since that the 14-years-old has come into the headlines for his batting skills.

In 2018 he had scored a 150 for Mally Aditi International School in Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) BTR Cup Under-14 tournament match, also compiling a whopping 412 runs in the same tournament in 2018.

Samit is being touted as one of the most promising and budding cricketers who can make on the national side following his good all-round skills and follow his father’s footsteps.

Rahul Dravid who enjoys the tag of the wall across the globe has had an illustrious career, amassing  13,288 runs at an average of 52.31 in 286 innings in the longest format and 10,889 runs in One Day Internationals in his 16 years long career. He is currently the head in charge of the National Cricket Academy
