Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid ruled out due to ankle injury

Philadelphia 76ers star centre Joel Embiid has been ruled out of the upcoming fixture against Phoenix Suns, following a left ankle injury in the weekend. 

As per Adrian Wojnarowski of the ESPN, the injury is not severe and Embiid could shortly join the side soon for the rest of the season. 

The 76ers will play their sixth game after the season restart against the suns on Wednesday, followed by their next clash against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday. 

Embiid has undergone treatment on Monday and he will be evaluated closely until he is declared 100 per cent fit to return on the floor. Embiid left the floor midway in the first quarter of the clash with Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday. 

The 76ers have faced double blow as their guard Ben Simmons also underwent surgery on his left knee last week. He will be out for the next two weeks and re-evaluated in the next two weeks. In fact, Simmons is expected to miss the remainder season owing to the time he will be out of the side. 

Philadelphia 76ers are 3:2 in their last five matches since the season resumption and they lost to the Trai Blazers 124-121 in which Josh Richardson led the side with 34 points, five rebounds and six assists.
