In his capacity with the Super Giants, Prasad will offer extensive expertise in critical areas such as overseeing talent scouting, nurturing emerging players, and contributing to the development of their cricket academy. With Prasad’s involvement, the LSG franchise aspires to achieve notable success as they strive to secure their inaugural IPL championship.

Having commenced his term as the chief selector of Team India back in 2016, the 48-year-old played a pivotal role in curating squads for significant ICC tournaments, including the 2019 World Cup and the 2017 Champions Trophy. His tenure in this role concluded in March 2020.

LSG concluded the season in the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Regarding the Lucknow Super Giants’ performance during the 2023 IPL season, they once again reached the playoffs, marking their second consecutive appearance in this stage. Unfortunately, their journey ended with a significant setback—a defeat by a margin of 81 runs against the Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier match.

The team faced a major setback midway through the season when their regular captain, KL Rahul, sustained a thigh injury, ultimately leading to his exclusion from the remaining matches. This circumstance necessitated Krunal Pandya to take on the leadership role. Over the course of the season, the Super Giants secured victory in eight out of their 14 matches, with one match resulting in a no-result due to adverse weather conditions.

Recent developments within the franchise include the appointment of Justin Langer as the new head coach, replacing Andy Flower. Additionally, Morne Morkel continues in his role as the team’s bowling coach.

In the ultimate showdown at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clinched their fifth IPL championship by defeating the reigning champions, Gujarat Titans. The victory was sealed by the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who struck a six and a four against right-arm seamer Mohit Sharma, securing the triumph for the CSK.

Following the conclusion of the match, CSK’s captain, MS Dhoni, displayed emotions of nostalgia and determination, suggesting the possibility of his return for the upcoming season, despite persistent reports about his potential retirement.
