Islamabad United Part Ways With Dean Jones, Misbah Might Take Over

Pakistan Super League (PSL): One of the notable franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Islamabad United, has announced that the franchise has parted ways with Dean Jones who was the head coach of the team for the first four seasons of the league.

Under Jones, Islamabad acquired two PSL titles in 2016 and 2018 respectively. As of now, they are deemed as the most successful team in PSL history.

In Jones’ regime, Islamabad won 25 out of the 44 games they played. The winning percentage of the team under the former Australian batsman was approximately 57.95.

Islamabad made the playoffs in the last edition of the PSL as well, but they couldn’t enter the league’s finale.

The Islamabad franchise as well as Jones himself took to Twitter to announce the news of their separation. While the franchise thanked Jones for his services, Jones also thanked the franchise for an opportunity to run the team.

Apart from the owners, Jones expressed his gratitude towards his support staff, his players as well as the fans of the team for supporting him to the fullest during his time as the head coach.

Jones did admit that he was a little disappointed that he wouldn’t be able to extend his association with the franchise despite achieving so much success, but he wished Islamabad all the luck going ahead.

There are rumours that Misbah ul Haq, who has been the captain of Islamabad United in the past, would take over as the new head coach of the team. Misbah is currently also the head coach of the Pakistan national cricket team.

Jones, on the other hand, might be on his way to Karachi Kings who are reportedly looking to make changes in their support staff.

Mickey Arthur has been the head coach of Karachi Kings since 2016, but the franchise is believed to be interested in Jones now. Any official announcement regarding that is still awaited.
