Dale Steyn, Chris Lynn and Jason Roy are part of the 28 players’ list who have registered themselves in the platinum pool of the PSL 2020 draft.
Other renowned players in the platinum pool are Moeen Ali, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Liam Plunkett, Hashim Amla and JP Duminy.
The batting legend AB De Villiers was also supposed to be the part of the pool, but he withdrew his name at the very last moment due to workload concerns.
There are talks that De Villiers was a bit circumspect about travelling to Pakistan as well, however, the South Africa mentioned the workload as the primary reason to skip PSL.
De Villiers’ compatriot Dale Steyn has however made it clear if he is picked by any franchise in the PSL draft, he has no issues to travel to Pakistan.
De Villiers is currently featuring in the Mzansi Super League (MSL) for Tshwane Spartans and then he will be on his way to Australia for the Big Bash League.
After the BBL, De Villiers will take a bit of a break before he makes his way to India to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL.
AB De Villiers was a part of the Lahore Qalandars in the last edition, but was ruled out of the Pakistan leg due to back injury.
It will be the first time that the entire PSL will take place in Pakistan with Lahore, Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi listed as the 4 venues.
In the draft, every franchise will be asked to create a roster of 16 players that includes 5 foreign players and 11 local players. Apart from that, the teams can pick 2 additional players out of which one can be a foreign player.
Each franchise can choose 3 players from the platinum pool, 3 players from the diamond pool, 3 players from the gold pool, 5 players from the silver pool and 2 players from emerging player’s pool.
The PSL franchises can retain up to 8 players from their squads of the last edition. The last date to retain and release the players from the squad is December 1.
