IPL 2023 : Mohammad Siraj says the "Lockdown period" in 2020 intensified his aim to get Better!

Royal Challengers Bangalore returned to winning ways after enduring a tough 8-run loss against Chennai Super Kings in their previous fixture. In the first mid-week double header, RCB tweaked their plan as they handed Virat Kohli the captaincy role today with Faf Du Plesis paving way for Vyshak Vijay Kumar as the Impact Player.

After losing the toss, RCB batter first. Kohli and Du Plesis got the team to a flying start by crossing 100 runs within the 10th over. However, due to the versatile nature of the pitch, the conditions reversed and the surface slowed down for a bit.

Before Du Plesis departure for 84 off 56, Kohli scored a slow paced 54 off 47 balls at a strike rate of 125.53. However, the biggest disappointment was no other batter could get to double digits. RCB eventually gave Punjab Kings 175 runs to chase which they defended pretty convincingly.

RCB’s main Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj played a vital role behind their successful defense. The Hyderabad born seamer finished with outstanding figures of 21/4. The 29-year-old was awarded as the man of the match for his performance with the ball and during the post match presentation, Siraj disclosed when and how he transitioned into what he is today.

The Right-arm bowler admitted himself that his bowling was not good enough before 2020. In his own words Siraj said – “The Lockdown in 2020 changed my life as i worked extremely hard to remain fit and bowl well. Before that my skill set was poor as i used to give away a lot of runs and used to get thrashed by Batters.” – Siraj replied to Murali Karthik.

He also added that playing One Day Internationals helped him attain a good rhythm and gain more confidence heading into the tournament. With this win, RCB are 5th in the standings with 6 points to their name and they will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their next IPL tie later on Sunday.
