ICC clarify their mistake after the Test ranking Blunder yesterday!

A massive blunder took place yesterday as the International Cricket Council on their website updated the ICC Test rankings and placed India on top only to remove them to 2nd moments later. This news confused plenty of Cricket fans around the world and many put up questions against them.

For that moment, India had become number 1 in all three formats. The Blues are anyways #1 in white-ball cricket and ICC after the blunder stated that the Aussies are still the number 1 team in Red-ball cricket.

“The ICC acknowledges, for a short period of time on February 15, 2023 that, due to a technical error, India were erroneously displayed as the No.1 Test team on the ICC website. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

However, India will have a chance to gain the number 1 position if they beat Australia in all of the next three matches. Moreover, Rohit Sharma’s side also have a chance of securing back-to-back qualification to the ICC World Test championship final only if India wins the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 3-1.

Both the teams will meet tomorrow for the 2nd Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the capital city where they are yet to lose a Test match since 1987. Quite a terrific fortress Delhi is for India. Head coach Rahul Dravid although said that history doesn’t matter in the present and it will be a mistake if they get carried away with the past record.

โ€œWe donโ€™t look at previous history and go back in time. We cannot get carried away by that. Australia are an experienced team and have good players who know they want to come back.โ€ย

Dravid also clarified Shreyas Iyer’s situation and said that the batter is completely fit to feature in the 2nd Test. Stay tuned for further updates on the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2022/23.
