FIH Men's Hockey World Cup 2023 Organizing committee sat down to analyze preparations

With just a few weeks remaining for the FIH Men’s Hockey World cup 2023 at Bhuvaneshwar, the Organizing committee of the tournament sat down to analyze and review the preparations for the upcoming event. The Organizing Committee is being led by Chief secretary of Odisha, Suresh Ch Mohapatra, Indian Hockey federation President Dilip Tirkey and Odisha’s Chief minister office.

Alongside those Three were the other Senior Departmental officers and Indian Hockey officials. The meeting was organized in order to keep a check on all the tournament related logistics and to safely conduct the entire tournament starting from January 13.

The main focus of the meeting was on Stadium’s readiness, connectivity, hospitality, community outreach, safety and security, crowd management and traffic, World cup celebrations and city festivals, medical arrangements and much more.

The Indian Department of Sports and Youth services handed a budget of 75 Crore INR during the FY 2022-23 for the upcoming Hockey World cup. Federation for International Hockey recently gave green signal to the 2 re-laid turfs at Kalinga Stadium and another 2 turfs (match and practice) at the Birsa Munda Stadium. The lighting facilities have also been approved by FIH and the Stadiums are all set to feature nail biting matches once the tournament begins.

There were also discussions on the facilities of all the teams that are going to be a part of the marquee event. Sources have suggested that all the teams are being provided with a dedicated flight service to accommodate the distance between Bhuvaneshwar and Rourkela, where the tournament is scheduled to under go.

Mo Bus services are also being provided for the fans with match day tickets. Among other topics discussed were the security related issues as well as the Traffic and parking arrangements as they Indian federations hopes for conducting a safe and secure tournament.

Hockey world cup celebrations at the host cities were also discussed thoroughly. It is being reported that the World cup celebrations at Odisha will be organized in the grandest way possible and it will also involve communities, schools, colleges etc. It was also decided that the best city or district in the celebrations will be felicitated with some sore of awards.

The host cities of Bhuvaneshwar and Rourkela are being decorated in order to make it ready for the World cup in January. The organizing committee is hoping for all the works to be completed at the earliest.
