My Perspective:

Over the years, women’s hockey has seen some genuinely amazing players, each of whom has made a distinct contribution to the sport’s development and appeal. These five women have made a lasting impression on hockey history by exhibiting extraordinary talent, tenacity, and leadership. With their incredible dribbles, unwavering defenses, and game-changing goals, they have completely changed the definition of what it means to be a top-tier athlete.

They inspire future generations to aim for hockey and other greatness, and their influence extends beyond the field. Although the Indian women’s hockey team is making steady progress, they still need to work on being more consistent as a unit.

In hindsight, the Indian men’s hockey team’s sheer consistency has allowed them to excel in major events, such as the Olympics, where they won two bronze medals in a row in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.

Although there are undoubtedly talented athletes in her female sporting ecosystem, a more reliable and ideal pathway must be established in order for more gifted athletes to advance and perform brilliantly at major events.

Without a doubt, hockey has expanded greatly, reaching far reaches of Asia and Europe. The men and women in blue are undoubtedly here to rock the stage at the highest level given the talent in the Indian hockey ecosystem.

With the frequent influx of competitions like the Hockey India League, where elite players from around the globe compete for different teams for coveted titles, hockey as a sport will gain more recognition.
