England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the 24-man training squad for England’s upcoming three-match ODI series against Ireland on Thursday.

The board has included nine uncapped players in that 24-man training camp for the ODI series that will be played in Southampton.

As per the reports, former England skipper Paul Collingwood will be the in charge during the series, as the head coach Chris Silverwood will be focusing on the Test series against Pakistan which begins from August 5.

The ECB has looked to give opportunities to the uncapped players as only eight players from England’s World Cup-winning squad made into the team, barring Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler from the ODI squad. While ODI skipper Eoin Morgan will be leading the side in the ODI series.

The national selector of England Ed Smith spoke about the selection as he said, “Even with several multi-format players unavailable for the Ireland ODIs due to their Test commitments, there is real depth to England’s white ball-playing talent.”

This is the time when ECB is desperately looking for bringing back international cricket in the country after a halt of 116 days, scheduling back to back series for the national team.

Some of the new names to feature in the list includes Warwickshire bowler Henry Brookes and batsman Sam Hain, followed by Sussex batsmen Laurie Evans and Phil Salt, Durham bowler Brydon Carse etc.
