Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will look to keep up with the winning momentum in the Indian Premier League when they face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets, courtesy a few outstanding performances Shubman Gill, Pat Cummins, and Eoin Morgan.
Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, are undefeated in the tournament, having won both the games they have played so far. Meanwhile, Eoin Morgan has identified two bige threats for the side ahead of the game against RR. The southpaw has named Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler as their key men who can take the game away from the opposition.
“The honest answer is that they are good players and you have to get them out. If they bat for 20 overs, you’re probably going to lose the game, particularly Buttler and Samson,” Morgan said in an interaction.
Eoin Morgan is wary of the challengers but wants the team to focus on their game, to begin with. A great performance from the whole unit can help overcome all the challenges, reckons English skipper.
“They obviously have a very well-drilled and experienced side. I suppose the challenges from our point of view, is to try and focus on our own game to start with.”
“If we can produce a performance and improve on the game, I think then that will allow us to execute strategies and plans for Smith, Buttler and Samson to try and make inroads.”
Morgan also talked about Jofra Archer and what threat he can pose for the opposition. The southpaw reckons that Archer isn’t a new block in IPL and the players know his bowling more than before.
“He’s a very difficult opponent to come up against. It’s not his batting we’ll be worried about. It will be his bowling. Hopefully, we can negate that, make plans, he’s played in the IPL now for a long time so guys know him better than they have done before. So again, we need to play well enough to try and implement plans,” Morgan said.
Rajasthan Royals will square up against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 12th match of IPL 2020 on Wednesday.
