Ireland defeat England by 7 wickets in the last over thriller!

Ireland defeated England by 7 wickets in the third and the final ODI match at Southampton on Wednesday. After the thrilling win, Ireland registered the first and only win in the three-match ODI series.

Skipper Andrew Balbirnie (113 runs) along with Paul Stirling (142 runs) helped the side chase a stiff target of 329 runs with one ball to spare.

Earlier, England scored 328 runs in 49.5 overs as skipper Eoin Morgan blasted a staggering 106 runs off 84 balls to take his side
past 300 runs. He was accompanied by the middle-order batsman Tom Banton who scored 58 runs in the match. David Willey also added 51 runs in the lower order as he accompanied his skipper post a mammoth target.

From Ireland’s side, Craig Young was the leading wicket-taker as he finished with the figures of 3/53 in his 10 overs spell.

Ireland started the chase but they lost the opener Gareth Delany fir just 12 runs. Their veteran batsman Paul Stirling took the charge by building a 214 run partnership with the skipper Andrew Balbirnie during the chase.

In the end, Kevin O Brien (21 runs) and Harry Tector (29 runs) helped the side in crossing the winning line.

Ireland finally won the match in 49.5 overs and took the series to 2-1.

David Willey was adjudged the Player of the Series owing to his all-round performance in the entire series.
