Perry scored 53 off 58 balls with 6 boundaries and a six, but she was the only Australian batter to make a significant contribution. The rest of the batting line-up struggled against the England bowlers, who were led by Kate Cross and Charlie Dean.
Cross took 3-48 in her 8 overs, while Dean took 2-37. England’s fielding was also excellent, with Alice Capsey taking a brilliant catch to dismiss Perry.
In the end, Australia fell 69 runs short of the target as per D/L as the team was all out 199 in 35.3 overs. The victory gave England a 2-1 remarkable win in the 3-match ODI series against Australia.
Ellyse Perry is one of the most experienced players in the Australian team who holds a very good profile in both- the batting and bowling departments. The star batter batted with confidence unless she was caught in the hands of Alice Capsey bowled by Kate Cross.
Another batter who strived to take Australia to win was the star performer Ashleigh Gardner who gathered solid 41 runs to guide her team to a successful run chase of 286 runs. However, both the batters failed eventually and the whole Australian team was bowled out at 199 in 35.3 overs. The contribution of both batters went in vain.
The Women’s Ashes is one of the most prestigious competitions in cricket, and England’s victory in the third ODI was a major achievement. Perry’s fifty was a highlight of the match, but it was not enough to prevent England from taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
