Eve Jones Replaces Ellyse Perry as Captain for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred
Birmingham Phoenix has undergone a significant leadership change ahead of The Hundred, with Eve Jones stepping in as captain in place of the injured Ellyse Perry. Following Perry’s withdrawal due to a knee injury sustained during the Women’s Ashes, Tess Flintoff will join the squad as her replacement.

Eve Jones, a seasoned cricketer with vast experience, will be the third player to lead Birmingham Phoenix. She follows in the footsteps of Amy Jones and Sophie Devine in this prestigious role. Having captained Central Sparks in both 50-over and T20 cricket since 2020, the 30-year-old brings valuable captaincy expertise to her new position.

In the wake of Ellyse Perry injury, Tess Flintoff steps into the Birmingham Phoenix lineup as her replacement. Though relatively unfamiliar to many English fans, Flintoff made headlines during the 2022/23 Women’s Big Bash by recording the fastest half-century in the tournament’s history. Her scintillating knock of 50 off 16 balls for Melbourne Stars against Adelaide Strikers showcased her immense talent and ability to make an impact on the game.
Flintoff’s prowess extends beyond domestic cricket, as she has represented Victoria in the Women’s National Cricket League and earned her debut for Australia A against England A in January 2022.
