Sciver-Brunt was in sublime form from the start, hitting 15 fours and a six in her 149-ball innings. She put on a key partnership with Danni Wyatt for the 7th wicket. The star performer did not stop and went on to amass 129 runs to help England post a total of 285 runs.
England’s total of 285-9 was a challenging one, but Australia were never really in the hunt. They lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 199 in 35.3 overs.
No batter from the Australian team was able to put on a good partnership. Ellyse Perry top-socred for Australia as she clicked a super solid 53-run inning. Ashleigh Gardner strived to take Australia with his magnificent 41-run inning. However, the star batter fell prey to run out by Danni Wyatt. Apart from these two batters, no other batter could make any significant impact and the team was all out at 199 in 35.3 overs.
Kate Cross was the pick of the England bowlers, taking 3-48 in her 8 overs. She was fully supported by Charlie Dean, who took 2-37, and Lauren Bell, who took 2-53.
The victory put England in a solid position in the multi-format Ashes series, but they won the ODI series 2-1. It was a fitting end to a thrilling series, and Sciver-Brunt’s century was the highlight of the match.
The Women’s Ashes is one of the most prestigious competitions in cricket, and England’s victory is a major achievement. Sciver-Brunt’s century was a key moment in the series, and it will be remembered as one of the great Ashes innings.
