Deepak Chahar Grabs Second Hattrick In Less Than 72 Hours

Deepak Chahar seems to be picking hattricks for fun these days. It was less than 72 hours back that he took a hattrick playing for India in Nagpur and then he turned up for his state side Rajasthan today and picked another hattrick, this time against Vidarbha.

There are some bowlers who have been very successful in both international and domestic cricket, but they never took a hattrick and then there is Chahar who has two hattricks to his name within a space of hours. It’s a wonderful story.

Chahar has seen a steep growth in his cricket career in the last couple of years. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) picked him for the 2018 IPL season and it was from there that he took his game to the next level as a bowler.

Chahar’s performance in IPL 2018 got him into the Indian side for the England tour where he made his debut. Although, he couldn’t do much on that tour, he showed enough to the Indian selectors to keep himself in the frame.

And the way he has performed in the last three T20I series for India, it’s been exemplary. Starting from the West Indies tour to the home series against South Africa and now in the recently concluded series against Bangladesh, the 27-year old hasn’t put a foot wrong.

Deepak Chahar has played 7 matches for India in T20I cricket and has taken 14 wickets with a bowling average as low as 10. And it’s not just the bowling average, Chahar’s economy rate is less than 6 as well which is outstanding in the shortest format of the game.

Chahar hasn’t got too many opportunities to showcase his potential with the bat for India so far, but he is more than capable with the bat too and he has shown that in the IPL a few times.
