BCCI set to celebrate the 1000th match of the IPL between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede!

When the Mumbai Indians (MI) take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, cricket fans, and particularly IPL fans, are in for a treat. What makes this pairing so unique? Well, the MI vs. RRR match will mark the 1000th game of the lucrative IPL competition!

Since the IPL 2023 schedule was made public, there have been persistent rumours that the richest T20 league in the world’s 1000th match will feature a match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI), two of the league’s most successful teams.

The historic match between CSK and MI is scheduled to occur on May 6 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The 1000th match in IPL history will instead be the match between MI and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 30. This is because the rumoured information about CSK vs. MI was incorrect.

In the 1000th IPL game, Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium will be decorated. The BCCI strives to guarantee that spectators enjoy themselves while witnessing the cricket game. The two team captains, MI captain Rohit Sharma and RR captain Sanju Samson, will receive unique gifts during a brief ceremony.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has organised various events to honour the occasion of the 1000th IPL game, which also happens to be the MI vs. RR match. As it is, a stadium is festive and lively during an IPL match, with the exception of course of the Twenty20 cricket match. And now there will be much more excitement and anticipation for the historic 1000th IPL game.

The ceremony will begin with former India captain and coach-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri addressing the gathering, a source from the BCCI told The Times of India. A video featuring a few players discussing the IPL will be broadcast. The two captains will then get a souvenir from the BCCI office-bearers.
