Anwar El Ghazi: Why is the Dutchman facing Contract termination for Israel-Palestine war?

The on-going war situation between Israel and Palestinian terrorist group Hamas at the Gaza strip has been the most talked about issue around the world for quite some time now. It has attracted a lot of attention, opinions and social media posts from Millions of people around the world.

Among those millions of people was Netherlands born winger Anwar El Ghazi. He has been very vocal about the war situation on social media with many convinced that the player has Pro-Palestinian thoughts, including his current employers FSV Mainz.

The Bundesliga outfit signed El Ghazi earlier this year as a Free agent who has made only 3 substitute appearances for the club. While he struggled getting game time, it is now more likely than ever that his contract will be cancelled.

Mainz were upset about his social media post where questioned the killings of countless people at the Gaza strip. The club suspended him as soon he posted the now deleted social media post.

However, Mainz changed their stance and re-integrated Anwar El Ghazi to the squad following a series of talks between them which resulted in the player apologizing and regretting for the social media posts. “El Ghazi regrets publishing the post and also was remorseful about its negative impact and also stated that he does not question Israel’s right to exist”. – The club said in a press release.

But-But, there is another twist in the tale. As soon as Mainz released the statement, Anwar El Ghazi quickly posted on Social media that neither does he regret posting those things online and nor will he ever apologize about the same.

El Ghazi empowered his thoughts with a statement that read, “Stand for what is right even if it means standing alone. The loss of my livelihood is nothing when compared to the hell being unleashed on the innocent and vulnerable in Gazastand for what is right even if it means standing alone. The loss of my livelihood is nothing when compared to the hell being unleashed on the innocent and vulnerable in Gaza.”

At the moment, Anwar El Ghazi is not a part of FSV Mainz anymore who are currently 18th in Bundesliga standings. The Dutchman has previously represented clubs like Ajax, Lille, Aston Villa and Everton.
