Even though Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp stood a few yards apart in the tactical area, the gap between their teams and its quality stood apart in the game length. One could easily say it was a distance of motorway’s length.
Jose Mourinho was forced to move his strategy of parking the bus into an attacking mode but until then, the Lillywhites looked lackluster and couldn’t find anything from the first half where they parked the bus.
In a game that was much touted as Jose Mourinho vs Jurgen Klopp, it was the German international who came on top against Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese tactician has played Klopp 11 times and has recorded only 2 wins against him.
The current form of Liverpool has made every side to park the bus in front of them or either concede a goal to their pass. And looking to the stats and previous records, Mourinho decided to park the bus in front of pacy Liverpool side. This was quite predictable. However, the problem is one needs a perfect side to park the bus and technically sound players to do the trick. And to Mourinho’s despair, Tottenham has very few of them.
Even though the throw-in was awarded wrong and Liverpool scored from it making most of the referee’s wrong decision, it was pathetic defending from Toby Alderweirald and Dele Alli which let the ball into the net. And it is to be noted that Tottenham Hotspurs have one clean sheet under Mourinho and Mourinho made a decision to field Japhet Tanganga, a 20-year-old, in the backline for Hotspurs.
On the other hand, Jurgen Klopp has three terrific attackers who can change the consequences of the game within seconds with their transition from defense to attack. Further, they are clever to find the inroads to the opposition defense. The way in which Klopp is pursuing the records makes other managers very embarrassing and Klopp a generational manager.
Jose Mourinho made few changes in the second half to adapt the Klopp’s game. However, the chances weren’t taken properly by Spurs. Mourinho sank into his knees in despair when Giovani Lo Celso missed a sitter and on the other hand, Klopp collected the record-breaking 20th win out 21 games in Premier League.
These small things sum up the things of both the managers. Klopp might be on his way to become the Invincibles manager after Arsene Wenger.
