Liverpool midfielder, Adam Lallana has paid an emotional tribute to his close friend and skipper of Liverpool team, Jordan Henderson. He will leave Liverpool when his contract terminates on 31st July 2020.
“Being beside him lifting the Premier League trophy, nothing makes me happier,” emotional Lallana said about his skipper Henderson.
During his six-year stint with Liverpool, he was part of that squad who clinched Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup.
However, he used to be constantly in and out from the team during his six years with the reds due to several injuries and during those tough moments, he got backing from Henderson which is the main reason why their friendship grew over the years playing for Liverpool.
“Having been with Jordan throughout the whole journey, I’ve been lucky enough to be alongside him when he had his dark moments – and he’s also been alongside me in my dark moments,” Lallana told the Liverpool club website.
Lallana who also won this season’s UEFA Super Cup with Liverpool praised his skipper leadership ability to take responsibility for poor results on the field.
“We drew 3-3 away to Sevilla [in the Champions League in November 2017] after being 3-0 up. It felt like a defeat and Jordan took full responsibility,” Lallana said.
“But that just epitomises his selflessness. That’s not in the good moments, that’s the bad moments.”
“He deserves to be captain of Liverpool holding the four trophies in one season more than anyone else, and no-one can take that away from him ever.”
Henderson as an England International player has made 50 appearances for his country from the time he has made his debut in 2010.
He has won the England Player of the Year award twice, both at U-21 and senior level, making him the first English player to achieve the grand feet.
