Zimbabwe Chases Down 315 Runs in Under 41 Overs

Zimbabwe

Chasing 315 runs, with 55 balls remaining is certainly not a child’s play. This is certainly the stuff of Full-time ICC members but this was Zimbabwe, an Associate member who has done this impossible-looking run chase. There is no doubt about the fact that they played like a unit. Not one, but all the batsmen went on to get a good score. The bowlers of Zimbabwe didn’t do a good job, so it was necessary for the batsmen to help the team escape.

There is no doubt of the fact that there were a lot of key moments of the match. And it turned out to be the most exciting match of the tournament. This is certainly a great achievement for the Chevrons.

1st Inning

  • The Netherlands batted first, and the openers gave a brilliant opening stand of 120 runs. But that was not it. The rest of the batsmen also performed well.
  • Vikramjit -88, Max – 59, and Scott – 83. These scores were able to make the Netherlands reach a brilliant total of 315 in 50 overs.
  • In the bowling unit of Zimbabwe, apart from Sikandar, and Richard, no one else was able to perform well. This made the job of the Netherlands even easier.

2nd Inning

  • At the beginning of the 2nd inning, not many people were hoping for Zimbabwe to chase this mammoth target. However, they got a good opening partnership of 80 runs.
  • Later on, Sean Williams joined and played a brilliant knock of 91 of 58 balls. That was certainly a good performance.
  • Once Sikandar came out to bat, he had no idea that he’ll make history. He went on to score the fastest century in the history of Zimbabwe’s ODI Cricket.
  • Raza smashed 102 runs off just 54 balls.

This match clearly shows that even the qualifier tournament is as exciting as the World Cup. So, make sure that you don’t miss any qualifier matches.
