Sikandar Raza Smashes Century in World Cup Qualifiers

Sikandar Raza

The World Cup qualifier tournament is as important as the World Cup for all the associate team members. That is the reason this tournament is becoming more competitive with every match. A very rare and extraordinary stuff was shown by Sikander Raza, when he went on to smash the fastest century in the history of ODI by any Zimbabwean.

Chasing the target of 316

Not only this match is going to be known for one of the best innings played by a batsman from Zimbabwe’s team. But it is also going to be known for a brilliant chase. That is because Zimbabwe went on to chase the target of 316 only in 40.5 overs. That means almost 55 balls were remaining and they still reach the huge target. Nobody was expecting Raza to score a century. That is because he came to bat at no. 5.

Sikandar Raza’s century

By the time he came out to bat, Zimbabwe was 162/3. There were a lot of runs on the board to chase. But there is no doubt that Raza had a different plan in his mind. He went on to hit 8 sixes in his inning of 102 runs, with a strike rate of 188.89. This is certainly a big achievement because this is being regarded as the best ODI innings by any Zimbabwean cricketer ever.

This inning is going to give a lot of confidence to the team of Zimbabwe. It also shows that they have a very strong middle order. The opponent teams are going to ensure that they prepare accordingly, because Zimbabwe, is certainly one of the toughest teams right now, in the tournament.
