ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2020 Full Schedule

Under-19 Cricket World Cup is the perfect place to establish yourself as the future of your nation’s cricket team. Players like Virat Kohli, Alastair Cook, Damien Martyn, Kane Williamson, and Steve Smith played the U-19 World Cup in their professional career and then went on to play the game at the highest level.

This year, it would be no different. The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2020 is all set to take place in South Africa later this month and the viewers would surely get a glimpse of some future legends.

The first game of the highly-anticipated tournament will be played between hosts South Africa and Afghanistan at the De Beers Diamond Oval on January 17. All eyes will be on the defending champions India when they start their World Cup journey with a match against Sri Lanka at the Manguang Oval on January 19.

The Indian side will be led by Priyam Garg who has been a force to be reckoned with in First-Class cricket. He has accumulated a total of 814 runs in 11 games at an average of 67.83. He also has a rare feat of scoring two double centuries in U-16s, U-19s and Ranji Trophy so far.

India plays Japan in the second match before meeting the New Zealand side in their last group match before the quarter-final stage.

But it will be an ecstatic moment for Nigeria when they make their U-19 World Cup debut against Australia on January 20.

Another team that would be hard to beat is none other than Australia. Led by Mackenzie Harvey, the team would be the watch out for during the tournament. Former cricketers Chris Rogers and Ryan Harris will be going with the team as head coach and assistant coach.

The Aussies will play three group matches against the West Indies (January 18), Nigeria (January 20), and England (January 23).

A total of 16 teams are participating in the tournament this year and all the teams have been bifurcated into four groups. Here are the groups –

Group A: Sri Lanka, India, Japan, New Zealand.

Group B: Australia, West Indies, England, Nigeria.

Group C: Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Scotland.
