“You Will Falter” : R Ashwin gives honest judgement on Bazball

For a some now, England has been attempting to adopt the fast-paced batting style known as “Bazball.” The Brendon McCullum-inspired approach has led to some outstanding victories over Pakistan and New Zealand by having batters score runs at incredibly rapid rates in Test matches. Ravichandran Ashwin, an Indian spinner, expressed scepticism about the aggressive batting approach and claimed that it would undoubtedly fail under certain circumstances.

The term “Bazball” is now in use. Cricket in England is being played quickly in Test matches. They prefer to play a specific brand of cricket. When you attempt to attack every ball, though, you will struggle on some sorts of wicket. This strategy has both advantages and downsides, according to Ashwin.

Some will challenge me to grind it out and get all out for 140 instead of defending and getting all out for 100. We won’t know whether the strategy is effective or not until the game is over. On the wicket, it is occasionally necessary to observe the rules. When you treat the field with respect and play appropriately, it will return the favour. If you respect the pitch, it will benefit you, the seasoned spinner said.

Ashwin has consistently worked with his performance on the 22-yard strip as one of India’s go-to spinners in the two Test matches against Australia thus far. India now leads the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series 2-0 thanks to the bowling partnership of Ashwin and Jadeja.

With 40-year-old James Anderson now holding the pole position, Ashwin is currently in second place. Anderson’s position at the top of the leaderboard is in jeopardy given Ashwin’s current Border-Gavaskar Trophy form.
