Watch : Adam Gilchrist's prediction on Australia in the on-going Border-Gavaskar trophy 2023

Former Australian wicket-keeper batter Adam Gilchrist thinks that despite losing the series, Australia still has a lot to prove in the final two Test games. In an interview with ANI, Adam Gilchrist discussed up on the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. Gilchrist said “The series is over and they can’t win it because India has outplayed them up until this point, but they can still gain a lot from it. Since Australia is up against an extremely skilled Indian team here, there is no reason Australia can’t gain something from the series, and of course the world test championship is something that is on the line for both teams. It becomes rather interesting as a result.”

Due to their inability to hold their own against the spin combo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Australia lost the first two Test matches against the hosts. In the first innings of the second test match, Australia appeared to have discovered the secret to dealing with Indian spinners. The hosts were able to secure the victory in the second inning, proving that their code was ineffective.

The Australians decided to play the game with three spinners after spotting the weakness in their lineup. Gilchrist was asked by ANI what guidance he would like to offer the Australian spinners. Gilchrist responded to this query in an amusing manner. “Because I can’t bowl spin, I won’t give the spinners any advice.”

The Australian spinners performed admirably on the opening day of the third test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy even without Gilchrist’s instruction.
