WPL 2023 : Gujarat Giants to chase mammoth total of 208 runs after Kaur scored brilliant half century in the opening encounter

The opening game between Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians women couldn’t have gone better, with the former scoring a respectable total against the latter.

In terms of the game’s tempo, Mumbai Indians came out with an offensive stance, which was seen in the middle, while Gujarat Giants won the toss and decided to bat first.

Mumbai Indians were in a high-powered mode as they reached 165 runs with the loss of just three wickets in just under 17 overs.

Kaur, who scored 65 runs off of 29 balls while batting, was similarly well-supported by Kerr, who scored 29 runs at the other end.

Eventually Kaur was out on 65 runs who became the first player in the history of WPL to score half century.

The moment Kaur lost his wicket, Vastrakar joined kerr in the middle.

Kerr took the charge, started scoring few boundaries as the target was to inch closer to 200 runs.

Close to 18 Overs, Mumbai Indians scored 175 runs at the loss of 4 wickets.

The flurry of boundaries keep coming at the penultimate end of the year which gradually progressed the score towards 201 runs and the scorecard clearly indicates that it wouldn’t be easy for Gujarat to chase down this total.

Mumbai Indians went ahead and scored 207 runs at the loss of 5 wickets.

Harmanpreet Kaur was subminal with the form, and carried out her brilliant form the T20 World Cup debacle, where she couldn’t ensure India reached the final.

She showed her class today, and made sure that Mumbai Indians post a brilliant total against Gujarat.
