Why was Irfan Pathan trolled after Glenn Maxwell snatched victory from Afghanistan's hands?

Former Indian All-Rounder Irfan Pathan has always showed a lot of love to the Afghanistan cricket team and it has been a highlight of the ICC Cricket World cup 2023. When Afghanistan defeated Pakistan for the first time in their history, Pathan, broadcaster of Star Sports, danced his heart out with Rashid Khan.

The delight in his eyes and smile on his face expressed it all. Not that he is Anti-Pakistan but it was just that Pathan enjoyed the outstanding turn around by Afghanistan who have a former Indian cricketer (Ajay Jadeja) in the dug out.

Then after Afghanistan’s win against Netherlands, Irfan Pathan uploaded a picture of him doing “Bhangra” on X (Twitter) with a caption, “The Afghan team’s performance in this World Cup has shifted the conversation from their bowling to their remarkable batting. Kudos to them for their consistent displays.”

He showed his support to Afghanistan’s first ever Centurion Ibrahim Zadran yesterday on Twitter before inviting the entire Afghani team for Dinner party in his residence at Mumbai. But the events that followed afterwards at the Wankhede made him a subject of lethal trolling.

Glenn Maxwell all by himself, snatched an unthinkable victory by 3-wickets, scoring 201 off 128. His inning deserved a lot of appreciation and Irfan Pathan didn’t back out from appreciating the 35-year-old. He wrote with a picture of Maxwell, “Some match winning innings are such that you just stand up and applaud. An inning to remember for lifetime.”Β

As soon as he posted, his followers started to troll him by sharing funny comments and replies. Here are some of the Best Fan reactions:
