Watch : Mumbai Indians take a lethal dig on Punjab Kings for 0 IPL trophies via Twitter! Fans are buzzing!

By defeating Punjab Kings by six wickets on the evening of Wednesday in Mohali, the Mumbai Indians put on an impressive display to earn their fifth victory of the 2023 Indian Premier League. Ishan Kishan (75) and Suryakumar Yadav (66) delivered an outstanding batting display that saw the Mumbai Indians secure a crucial victory with seven deliveries left in the game.

It turned into a run-fest at the PCA Stadium, with the host team reaching a massive score of 214/3 in 20 overs. MI did not get off to the best of starts as Rohit Sharma departed for a Duck in only his 3rd delivery. But later on, Ishan Kishan and the MI middle order took the charge and powered MI to their 5th victory of the season.

But the actual thing began after Punjab’s Rishi Dhawan took the wicket of Rohit Sharma. And right after the development, Punjab Kings posted on Twitter with a caption of RO which had a cryptic meaning. It indirectly mocked Sharma getting out for a duck in the 3rd ball.

The tweet is now deleted but it was actually removed after Mumbai Indians won the match. In this IPL, we have seen teams go back forth on Twitter and MI after finding out the Tweet, had something to post about as well.

MI replied by stating the fact that Punjab Kings formerly King XI Punjab haven’t won a single IPL title while Rohit Sharma himself has 6 IPL titles to show. The Hitman won the coveted title 5 times as MI Captain in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 while his first as a player came in 2009 with the Deccan Chargers now known as Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Punjab Kings are among the 3 teams since 2008 edition who are yet to win the IPL trophy, the other 2 being Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The closest Punjab Kings reached was the Finals in 2014 under the captaincy of George Bailey but the elusive IPL title eluded them once again with KKR becoming 2-time champions that year.
