Watch: FC Barcelona release their New away kit for 2023/23 which is a tribute to Johan Cruyff

One of the pioneer’s of Modern day’s total football, Johan Cryuff and his side during the 1970’s will get a tribute from FC Barcelona this season. Barca’s away shirt this year is a reminiscence to their away Kit which they used to wear during Cruyff’s playing years. The club debuted the new away shirt yesterday during a heavy Pre-season friendly loss to Arsenal by 5-3 at USA’s SoFi Stadium.

With a Pre-season El Clasico up next before friendlies against Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, the club will hope to carry some spirit by wearing this jersey. It is pre-dominantly white with unique boundary stripes in the sleeves of Red and Blue color. The shade of white in Barca’s jersey remains very similar.

Their first (home) kit this year is inspired by Barcelona Femini which played their first match at the Camp Nou in 1970. And their second kit on the other hand is an inspiration from the Legend Johan Cryuff.

In fact FC Barcelona have plenty of history around this jersey. White isn’t mainly Barca’s color but they have worn it time-to-time in their history. Players during the 1920’s and 70’s have rocked a white kit which is Pre-dominantly their rival Real Madrid’s primary color.

But it is not just the white that is returning. Barca’s iconic Vintage crest along with Blue-Red stripes on each sleeves will also appear. Barca’s shorts are blue and their socks are also the same as 1970’s. Alongwith Nike, FC Barcelona have chosen the way of sustainability to contribute for the environment responsibilities.

Following their pre-season tour which ends on 8 August, the Catalonians will begin their La Liga title defense with a trip to Getafe on 14th August. FC Barcelona will play their first match at new home at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys against Cadiz on 20 August.
