Vitality Commences Significant Roster Overhaul in LEC by Parting Ways with Perkz

As the 2024 League of Legends EMEA Championship season approaches, Luka “Perkz” Perković, one of the most accomplished mid laners in the region, has become a free agent after Team Vitality officially bid him farewell. This departure, which had been initially reported earlier in the week, has now been confirmed by the team.

In a heartfelt video marking his exit, Team Vitality expressed their appreciation for Perkz’s two-year tenure with the organization. Perkz joined Vitality at the end of 2021, taking over from LIDER in what was initially considered Europe’s superteam. Despite high expectations, the team failed to fully realize its potential, leading to roster changes. Throughout this period, Perkz remained a central figure and leader of the team.

Vitality had a strong start to this year’s season, securing the top spot in the Winter Split’s regular season. However, their momentum waned during the group stage, and they only managed to bounce back in the Spring Split playoffs, ultimately finishing in third place.

Unfortunately, this success didn’t carry over into the summer, and Vitality ended their run during the regular season. For Perkz, this marked his poorest performance in the region’s competition since the start of his career.

Team Vitality’s decision to part ways with Perkz signifies the beginning of a significant roster overhaul as they aim to reposition themselves in the competitive LEC landscape. Perkz’s availability on the market is sure to generate interest from various teams looking to bolster their rosters.

As a veteran mid laner with extensive international experience, he brings not only impressive mechanical skills but also valuable leadership qualities.

While the official off-season for the League’s competitive scene typically begins in December after the conclusion of the World Championship, the recent announcements of several teams allowing their players to explore new opportunities and the emergence of a new organization have already fueled excitement among fans for the 2024 LEC season.
