Virender Sehwag Divorce: Nawab of Najafgarh heads for a splits-ville?

The Multan ka Sultan, aka Virender Sehwag and his wife of twenty years, Aarti Ahlawat is reportedly navigating towards a legal separation path, as the news of both unfollowing each other on Instagram comes to forefront. This has led to netizens wagging their tongues and speculating trouble in the marital paradise.

As is the case with all modern-day couples, social media abandoning has become the new norm, a silent break-up system. The couple has been in the news off late due to the bubbling undercurrents between them; however, this recent act has sent the Internet into a state of frenzy. Sehwag got married to his childhood sweetheart Aarti Ahlawat in April 2004 under heavy security cover in a hugely publicized spectacle hosted by Sh. Arun Jaitley, the then Union Law minister of India, at his own residence. They have two sons from their marriage.

Widely regarded as one of the most destructive openers and one of the greatest batsmen of his era with his attacking and explosive batting approach, he played for Delhi Capitals in the IPL and Delhi and Haryana in Indian domestic cricket. Sehwag was the captain of the Delhi Daredevils in the first two edition of Indian Premier League, before he quit the position to concentrate more on his batting transferring it to Gautam Gambhir.

Despite their long-lasting partnership, the recent developments hint at an increasing distance between the two. As per the sources, the couple has been living apart since quite some time already, and a plausible divorce is likely on the cards too.  While the cricket legend is yet to send out an official statement from his end, the couple’s visible public distancing has given the fodder to become a topic of discussion amongst the public. The sturdy relationship of over two decades has now hit an alleged rock-bottom patch, and any revival from it seems highly unlikely. The evident signs of no public outings together and not posting any pictures off-late only adds fuel to the fire, indirectly confirming their impending divergence.

We have just stepped into the new year, but it seems like the cricket fraternity has caught the evil eye attention already, as fan-favorites and popular couples who resonated as epitome of marital bliss join the bandwagon one after the other and head towards a splitsville. What’s more in store, only time will tell.
