After last week drama of playoff qualifications, Qualifier 1 is about to take place between two top teams of league stages. Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Capitals knowing a win will take them to finals. Mumbai who have been unstoppable in league matches ,barring last league match against Hyderabad, will fancy their chances against Delhi Capitals.
Mumbai batting is covered with all top six performing in one match or other. Mumbai Indians have all heard covered in batting and all from top six have performed over 14 games. Rohit who came back after missing games due to hamstring would like to bat through and other playing around him. Bumrah and Boult would be back to bolster the bowling attack. MI are champion side and know how to win big games and would be up for it.
Delhi who managed to halt their four-match losing streak with a clinical win against Bengaluru side and secured a playoff spot. Delhi Capitals might field the same team that played against RCB which means Rahane and Sams will keep their place. Dhawan would look to continue batting the way he has been batting. Shaw, Shreyas and Pant should get back to scoring runs to give their side best possible chance. Stoinis, Axar and Sams should give them some quick runs. Their bowling looked getting back to best against RCB and if their bowling unit bowled like they did in first half of IPL then Delhi team should fancy their chances. Spinners will play their part and just might decide the outcome of match.
The loser of match will have another chance , but the winner will get more time to set their strategies and also recover from niggles. Mumbai Indians have won both league matches against Delhi Capitals but it’s a virtual semifinal and pressure will be on both teams. Mumbai Indians look more settled and have more match-winners so start as favourites.
