In the 55th match of the 2019 edition of the league, CSK set a defendable target of 170 runs against the Punjab Kings with Faf Du Plessis thrashing Punjab bowlers and scoring 96 runs. The match looked one-sided but when Punjab’s KL Rahul set on, he opened the doors to victory for Punjab and scored the most crucial 71 runs.

In the 38th match of the 15th edition of the cash-rich league, Punjab batted first and gave CSK a defendable target of 187 runs which was thought to be chased by CSK. However, despite playing all 20 overs of the match, CSK lost the match to PBKS by mere 11 runs.
