The Indian cricket team is on a roll in the longest format of the game. They are now on a winning streak of 11 consecutive test series at home. Yesterday, the subcontinent giants whitewashed the Proteas 3-0.

But despite all the heroics of the Indian test team, the crowd hasn’t shown much interest in buying tickets for the test matches.  The India vs South Africa test series was a blockbuster. There were some wonderful individual performances, both in the batting and the bowling department.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal scored double hundreds, while Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin showed his class with the ball, but the fans decided to enjoy all that on TV or through live streaming rather than actually coming to the stadium.

Only 4% of the available tickets were sold during the Ranchi test match as the stands remained largely empty. The attendance at Vizag and Pune, the venues where the other two test matches of the series were played, was also pretty low.

The decline raised the eyebrows of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) officials who have to host the second match of the India vs Bangladesh test series and they have decided to reduce the ticket prices to Rs. 50.

Not all the tickets are priced at Rs. 50, but the tickets which earlier used to cost Rs. 100 will now cost Rs. 50. While, the tickets which earlier used to cost Rs. 200 and Rs. 150 will now cost Rs. 150 and Rs. 100 respectively.

The decision has been taken by the CAB Secretary Avishek Dalmiya during the Apex meeting to attract the crowd during the tests.

“We want more people to come in. That’s why this move,” Dalmiya was quoted saying by Times of India.

Bangladesh will play 3 T20 internationals and 2 test matches on the India tour. While, the T20Is will take place in Delhi, Nagpur and Rajkot respectively, the test matches will take place in Indore and Kolkata.
