Australian spinner, Adam Zampa has been called in as a replacement for Kane Richardson in RCB squad for the IPL 2020, RCB confirmed in a tweet on Sunday. Kane Richardson has pulled out of IPL 2020 as he and his wife are expecting their first child soon.

Adam Zampa has played two seasons for Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL. He has picked 19 wickets in 11 matches at an economy of 7.54. He boasts of “claiming the best figures by a spinner in IPL- 6 for 19.

We are disappointed to not have Kane’s skills with us this IPL as he certainly on top of his game,” Mike Hesson, Royal Challengers’ team director, said.

However once we found out Kane and Nyki’s baby was due during the IPL, it’s an exciting time and we were fully supportive of Kane wanting to be at the birth of the first child. When looking at our squad for UAE conditions we felt it was an opportunity to bring in another quality legspinner in Adam Zampa to provide cover for Chahal and also give us extra options if conditions suit spin as expected during the tournament.” he added.

Adam Zampa went unsold in the 2020 IPL Auctions, having set his base price at INR 1.50 crores. However, with Richardson getting injured, he will ply his for a new franchise in RCB this year. Azam Zampa will bolster RCB’s spin attack, which also includes the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Moeen Ali and Pavan Negi.

Adam Zampa is a vital cog in Australia’s limited over’s side. He has represented Australia in 55 one-day internationals and 30 T20s, in which he has managed to claim 75 and 33 wickets respectively. Adam Zampa made his debut for Australia on 6th February 2016 against New Zealand. On the following month, he played his first T20 international against South Africa.

On spin-friendly tracks in UAE, RCB would expect some vital spells from the Australian spinner.
