Devon Conway went on to win the Player of the IPL 2023 final award. There is no doubt about the fact that without the start he provided to CSK, it would have been totally impossible for CSK to win the final. Later on, the rest of the batsmen were able to capitalize on that good start, and CSK went on to win the IPL 2023. There was certainly a lot of pressure on him to perform well because CSK was chasing the biggest target in the history of IPL finals.

Devon Conway’s performance

There is no doubt that Devon played the most important T20 knock of his life. At the same time, even the rain helped the CSK because they had to chase fewer runs with the same number of wickets.

A solid start

Devon stole the stage and went on to score quick-fire runs. In his innings of 47 runs, he scored 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. That maintained the run rate and the hope of CSK of achieving the target without issue. On the other hand, Gaikwad gave good support to Conway with his 26 of 16 balls.

Opening partnership

To chase the target of 171 in 15 overs, there was no doubt that an opening partnership of 50 runs was required. However, both the openers of CSK went above expectations and set up the 74 runs opening partnership. That certainly went on to set the tone of the game.

Once Jadeja finished the game, there was no doubt that Devon Conway was going to be the player of the match. Because it was his innings that provided confidence to the rest of the batsmen. Without getting a good start, it would have been totally impossible for the CSK to win the match.
