NBA Postpones 2021 All Star Game to 2024 in Indianapolis

It is certainly going to be the biggest blow for all Basketball fans as All-Star NBA games which was supposed to held in 2021 has been postponed to 2024 in Indianapolis. As 2020-21 NBA season is currently going on and looking at the scenario that the entire world is in due to COVID-19 it will not be easy to safely host NBA all-star game next year. The Indiana Pacers and the city of Indianapolis will not miss the opportunity to host all-star game which will be done by them now in 2024.

“The NBA and the Indiana Pacers announced today that NBA All-Star in Indianapolis, which was originally scheduled for Feb. 12-14, 2021, will now be held Feb. 16-18, 2024. Public health conditions prevented the Pacers, the NBA All-Star Host Committee and the NBA from appropriately planning and executing fan-focused All-Star activities in Indianapolis that were envisioned for this February. The 2024 NBA All-Star Game will take place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home of the Pacers, on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024. Plans for a revised NBA All-Star 2021 will be announced at a later date” Read a statement shared via Pacers.Com.

However, It will be the first time in Basketball History since 1999 that the league will not have an All-Star game but there will be some version of All-Star festivities that will be announced at later date. But the decision to postpone the mega event was expected as considering the COVID-19 outbreak conducting the game without fans would never be successful as All-Star game is all about playing in front of fans and entertaining them live with outstanding performances on the court. The thought of the dunk contest taking place in front of nothing but TV cameras is extremely depressing.

Also the League is going through the tight schedule as majority of games have been halted this year due to COVID-19. All-Star Game getting postponed to 2024 will give more flexibility to organizers to map other events out. As we expect this pandemic to eradicate as early as possible so that fans can enjoy the game of basketball live  on court and cheer for their favorite team.
