Mitchell Marsh likely to be ruled out of IPL 2020

Sunrisers Hyderabad hasn’t started their IPL 2020 campaign on a great note as they suffered a 10-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first game on Monday. They now have suffered another blow as Mitchell Marsh is likely to get ruled out of the whole tournament due to injury.

The Australian all-rounder suffered an ankle injury while bowling his first over in SRH’s match against RCB. On his fourth ball of his first over, he twisted his ankle and couldn’t bowl thereafter. He came in at number 10 in a big to help his side win the game. He tried to launch the first ball for a six but struggled to do so.

It seems a serious injury. I am not sure if he be able to compete in any of the matches, a team source told PTI.

Previously, SRH skipper, David Warner too talked about Marsh’s injury. He lauded his teammate for showing the courage to walk into bat even after struggling with excruciating pain.

“It doesn’t look great. A lot of courage from him to walk out there and try his best, but it was unfortunate tonight,” Warner told Star Sports.

“Obviously, what you saw out there, it was quite painful, he can’t put any weight on it,” Warner had said after the match.

Reports suggested that Marsh could be ruled out of the whole tournament. If it happens, then Dan Christian is likely to be the front-runner as his replacement. Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on 26th September 2020.
