Manoj Tiwary joins TMC ahead of elections in West Bengal

Veteran Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary  who is actually reaching at the twilight stage of his cricket carrier has joined Trinamool Congress ahead of upcoming elections in West Bengal clearly indicates that his second innings post cricket has been started already.

In 2019, Tiwary had said he would like to play for ten more years but it looks like he has decided to bring down curtains on his long cricket career.

Tiwary who hails from West Bengal took to Twitter to decide to announce his decision. However it will not be surprising if he competes in the elections too from any of the respective constituency in West Bengal.

He asked his followers and well-wishers for their love and support and also shared the link of his ‘political profile’ on Instagram. Calling it a new journey, Tiwary tweeted: “A new journey begins from today. Need all your love & support. From now onwards this will be my political profile on Instagram.”

However Cricket and Politics go head to head as several cricketers have joined politics till now which include the names like Mohammad Azharuddin, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Kirti Azad, and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

Tiwary would be hoping that his political career takes off like any other cricketer. Tiwary who last played for India in 2015 against ODI series in Zimbabwe.

He played 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is where he scored 302 runs in total with the help of 1 century and one half century. He also picked up 5 wickets in ODIs.
