Pravin Amre in Contention For India’s Batting Coach

Former Indian batsman and Delhi Capitals talent scout Pravin Amre is also in contention for the post of India’s batting coach after reports revealed of Amre applying for the position. 

The 50-year-old Pravin Amre is best remembered for his grand test debut against South Africa in Durban. Looking at his international career, he has played 11 test matches for India and scored 425 runs, including 1 hundred and 3 half-centuries.

Pravin Amre is currently working as a batting consultant of USA cricket team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has invited applications for the post of head coach, batting coach, bowling coach with eligibility criteria of being less than 60 years of age and a minimum experience of 2 years in the respective departments. 

Indian head coach Ravi Shastri-led support staff’s contract ended after India’s exit from World Cup 2019, but was given extension period of as many as 45 days by the supreme court-appointed Committee of Administrators).

India will play their first bilateral series after the World Cup against West Indies, starting from 3rd August 2019. 

On July 16, the BCCI invited applications for the post of head coach, batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach and administrative manager. The last date of application is 30 July 2019 until 5 PM IST. 

“The current coaching staff of Team India (Senior Men) will get an automatic entry in the recruitment process,” the BCCI said in a release.

“Pertinent to note, that the decision of the BCCI for the said position, will remain final and binding,” the release, issued by the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), added further.

India are set to tour West Indies for 2 T20s, 3 ODIs, and 2 Tests. India will play 1st T20 against West Indies on 3RD August 2019.
