One of the toughest aspects of team sports like football, Hockey or Basketball, to name a few, is passing. Not only you need to possess good dribbling skills to ward off the harrowing defenders, but the extraordinary vision to thread a pass to your teammate during the clutch situations is something not many players, not even at the topmost level, can claim to have. How many players can pass like Lionel Mess or David Silva on the football pitch? Not many.

LeBron James once again highlighted why he is the best creative player in the NBA as he helped the Los Angeles Lakers to an overtime 120-116 win over the Denver Nuggets. It was a game between the top two seeds in the Western Conference and it played out exactly like that, but James’ passing made the telling difference in the end.

The four-time NBA MVP ended with a remarkable 14 assists and made it almost impossible for the Nuggets to limit Lakers’ second unit. The King finished with his 12th triple-double of the season, after scoring 32 points along with 12 boards and 14 assists.

The big Serbian made more errors in the overtime which eventually proved costly. Nuggets’ All-Star centre failed to convert an open 3-pointer and conceded a turnover on a bad pass with 19 seconds left. He finished with a double-double 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Jamal Murray remained hot and once again ended with the best efforts for the team. He had a team-high 32 points and 10 assists, while Jerami Grant (15 points), Gary Harris (13 points), Monte Morris (12 points) and Paul Millsap (10 points) all touched he double-digit mark.

Both teams passed up many opportunities to win the game. Lakers opened the second half a bang, capped by Danny Green’s 3-pointer and James’ thunderous dunk by James and the Showtime extended their advantage to 11 points, but the Nuggets erased the lead with an 11-0 run and went into the fourth quarter with an 87-84 lead.

With the win, the Lakers improved their regular-season record to 41-12. The Nuggets meanwhile fell to 38-17.
