Batting legend Virat Kohli is clearly struggling with his form and his performance as batter in the latest edition of IPL has been disappointing where he managed to score only 341 runs from 16 matches with a strike rate of 115.99. Barring two half centuries for the master batsman there is nothing much to cheer for his ardent fans.

Several experts have already suggested him to take break from cricket for some time in order to regain his lost mojo back and the latest to join the bandwagon is none other than former Australian bowler Brett Lee who echoed the same sentiment.

This is the second time in eight years of his IPL career where he failed to score more than 400 runs and his slump in form is biggest cause of concern for Indian fans as Men in Blue would be participating in two world cups aligned in quick succession in the year 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Lee stated that Virat should take rest in order to recharge himself as importance of runs from Virat’s bat does make a difference for his sides far often than not.

“The hardest thing is when Virat Kohli doesn’t score runs, generally the team doesn’t do well. When we see Kohli had that purple patch, when he got 800-900 runs in that season (IPL 2016) his team (Royal Challengers Bangalore) fared pretty well. We want more from Kohli,” Lee said as quoted by HT.

“Maybe (it is) a chance for Kohli to go back and try work on a few things and maybe just have a rest from cricket. Just get away and just freshen up the mind,” added Lee.

“The two Khan boys (Mohsin and Avesh) have got real talent. The one thing that Indian cricket is producing is a nice catalog of fast bowlers. I like that. They have got good spin options as well but certainly, if you are looking forward to the T20 World Cup in Australia, you want guys that can bowl fast on the fast bouncy wickets,” opined Lee.

Australian fast bowler also talked about Indian pace sensation Umran Malik and added that the later should be given chance to represent in the longest format of the game as the tearaway pacer has been sensational in the ongoing edition of cash rich league where he bagged 22 wickets and dismantled several opposition batter.

“Look he has been fantastic, what Umran Malik delivers is pure pace. I wish him well and I am hoping that he gets the opportunity to play the longer format of the game as well,” the two-time World Cup winner said.
