Journey of Yashasvi Jaiswal from watching IPL to India call-up

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Hard work and patience are two of the most important qualities a professional cricket player should possess. If the player keeps on working hard and does not think about the results, he surely gets rewarded with more than he’d expect at the right time.

The story of a young kid from the small town of Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh is a perfect example of continuous hard work with complete dedication and not thinking about the eventual results. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who used to climb up the trees with his childhood friends after playing gully cricket near Mumbai’s Azad Maidan to watch the Indian Premier League, is now an Indian player.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been selected in Team India’s squad for the two test matches against the West Indies in the Caribbean next month. It is highly likely that Jaiswal will make his debut in that series as well in the absence of Cheteshwar Pujara in the number 3 position.

After a terrific IPL season this time around with the Rajasthan Royals team, Jaiswal will now be seen donning the India whites. The most likeable quality about him is that he always stays grounded, and even after seeing so much success in domestic cricket and the IPL, he still drives his same old second-hand car and also travels by autorickshaw.

Jaiswal recently remembered the time in an interview when he was watching an IPL match with his friend on a tree outside the Wankhede Stadium, and he said to his friend that one day I will also play here in this stadium under the lights.

Being just 21 years old right now, it is pretty evident that Jaiswal is one of the players that is going to do wonders for Indian cricket and score a lot of runs, raising the batting standards. He also displays a phenomenal leadership quality which tells that the future of cricket in India is in very safe hands.
