Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat is in a formidable form where he has claimed 65 wickets in this Ranji season, breaking records as well. His incredible performances have broken a 21-year-long record which was held by Dodda Ganesh of 62 wickets in a single season. His bowling helped his side to reach the Ranji final as well. Unadkat led from the front with a seven-wicket haul and bowled Gujarat out for 234 in the final session on day five.

As the final is still left for the pacer, he can surpass Ashutosh Aman’s all-time record of registering himself as the highest wicket-taker in a single Ranji trophy season and keeping his current form in mind, 4 wickets in 2 innings at his home ground would not be impossible for the in-form bowler. But their opponent is Bengal Ranji team who are also in a great form and they will also try their best to win the title.

However, the consistent form from the left-arm pacer might give him another chance to don blue Jersey again. Along with this Ranji season, a good IPL season for Jaydev Undakat can be beneficial as that will force the Indian team selectors to look at his performances as well.

“I believe my chance will come and I will wait for it. Also, age is on my side, I am 28. The way I have performed this season can be the benchmark I can probably set for myself for the rest of my career,” said the left-arm Saurashtra captain.

He further added, “It means a lot not because I have so many wickets, but because I have been able to win games for my side,” Unadkat explained.

“If I have to be right up there in the bowling group we have in our country, then I need to do what no one else has done. I think I am there in terms of confidence, experience, and fitness.”

As far as Saurashtra’s Ranji trophy final is concerned, this is the 4th time in the last eight years they have reached the final and Jaydev Unadkat will surely try his best to win the title for his side in the final which is all set to begin on March 9 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
