India’s 3-match ODI series against Australia could be KL Rahul’s last chance of redemption!
Wicket-keeper Batsman KL Rahul will have a point to prove in the upcoming 3-match ODI series between India and Australia starting from tomorrow. The Kangaroos will be aiming to win the ODI series after losing the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2023 by 2-1 for the 4th time in a row.
The series will be very important for KL Rahul who has been experiencing a rough patch and hasn’t been able to come out of it. He was featured in the first 2 Tests at Nagpur and Delhi and failed to put an impact with his below average performance.

At Nagpur, Rahul scored 20 runs in the first innings during India’s dominating win by an innings and 132 runs and at the Arun Jaitley stadium the 30-year-old only scored 18 runs combined in both innings. As a result, he was dropped from the following Tests and was also stripped off his vice-captaincy role.

And starting from tomorrow, KL Rahul will have his final chance to redeem himself and to earn his spot in the upcoming WTC final as well as the ICC Cricket World cup 2023 in India. His talent and ability cannot be doubted but his form has been poor off late.
His numbers in all three formats look decent. In Test cricket, Rahul has played about 81 innings and has scored 2500+ runs with 13 fifties and 7 Centuries along the way. In ODIs (which is the main focus now), he has played 51 matches and scored 1870 runs with 5 Centuries and 12 half-centuries. His maiden ODI century came on his debut match itself in 2016 and now everyone is calling up on him to go big.
Yesterday, India’s fielding coach T Dillip put forward his thoughts on KL Rahul. Dillip appreciated Rahul and said that he is an amazing player who has proven his worth in the past and also said that his flexibility as a Batter will be helpful for India going forward.
“We all know that KL Rahul is a wonderful player. He has a proven record. Even in ODIs, in the middle order, he has proved himself as a batter. As a wicket-keeper, he lends a lot of balance to the team He is not someone who has picked up the gloves now. He has been doing that since his younger days.”
