England might face a huge blow in the upcoming ODI series against India as both teams are currently playing four match Test series with series currently poised at 1-1 with 3rd Test match is all set to start from 24th Feb 2021 at Ahmadabad.
Once the red ball cricket series is done it will be followed by five T20 International and three ODI matches which will start from March 23rd to 28th 2021.
As per the reports are to believed, Root will likely to miss the ODI series which means that he will fly home after the conclusion of the Test series. Along with him all rounder Chris Woakes will be rested too.
The England team-management remains committed to providing rest periods for their multi-format players on an ongoing basis as part of preparation plans for the busy year that will see them play the T20 World Cup before flying to Australia for the Ashes.
As per one of the official from ECB stated that amid this pandemic time, players are facing logistical difficulties by switching constantly in and out of the bubble so they are looking to name the same squad which they have kept in T20 International match against India.
It will be a huge blow for the English team as Root is in the form of his life as he has scored more than 600 runs in recent subcontinent tour. The biggest problem for England is that they are relying heavily on Root to score big all the time which is ideally not possible.
