India vs Australia Test Series: Australia defeats India by 9 wickets in 3rd test, Qualify for WTC FINAL

In the third Test of the four-match series, Australia defeated India by 9 wickets thanks to Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head’s effortless 76-run chase. Usman Khawaja was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin early on Friday, but India was unable to keep the pressure on the visitors. Nathan Lyon claimed eight wickets on Thursday as Australia bowled India out for 163 runs, achieving a 76-run mark. Cheteshwar Pujara led the way with 59 runs, but Lyon’s 8 for 64 numbers overshadowed the accomplishment. Lyon had taken three wickets in India’s opening innings.

From the beginning Australia was having a strong hold in the match as India was dismissed for 109 runs in their first innings earlier in the game, while Australia responded by scoring 197 runs in their first innings. India continued to play poorly later in the second inning, while Australia, who played well, went on to win the game.

Usman Khawaja remained the top scorer of the match with his 60 run knock in first innings while Nathan Lyon was named player of the match after taking a total of 11 wickets throughout both innings.

Australia gained their first series victory with this win after losing the first two test matches. The current series score is 2-1. Australia’s also confirmed its spot in the World Test Championship final which will be played at the Oval in London in June.

They will likely face India in the World Test Championship final. Whereas, India is under pressure to reclaim the lead with a victory in Ahmedabad after Australia’s victory at Indore. The series’ fourth and final game is set to begin on March 9.
