IND Vs AUS 3rd Test : Hosts in trouble after winning the toss and electing to bat first!

The all important 3rd Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2022/2023 at Indore’s Holkar Stadium has begun and the hosts after winning the toss and batting first are in a very delicate situation. The Indian top-order has collapsed dramatically with key batters like Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara among others are back in the pavilion.

Australia are in desperate need of staging a comeback after losing 2 back-to-back Tests on Day 3. And here at Indore, the Baggy greens have an upper hand on the very first session. India are currently down by 7 wickets as Australia’s spinning trio of Nathan Lyon, Matthew Kuhnemann and Todd Murphy are running the show.

As we all know, the visitors will look to prevent India from winning another test match as a 3-1 or 4-0 series win will put Rohit Sharma’s side against the Kangaroos at ICC World Test Championship Final. And rightfully so, the Aussies have begun their comeback process.

The Aussie spinners have trapped Indian batters extremely well. India’s new opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill did not get off to a very good start as the Captain was the first to depart after Matthew Kuhnemann, who is playing only his 2nd Test match tricked Sharma to come out and Alex Carey did not make any mistake behind the stumps.

Shubman Gill got edged and caught in the slips 7 runs later while Cheteshwar Pujara failed to read Nathan Lyon’s incoming delivery and got bowled for 1. Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer also got out for scores of 0 & 4 and Virat Kohli also failed to stick on and departed for 22 runs.

After KS Bharat’s dismissal Ravi Ashwin and Axar Patel are currently on the crease and India are 84/7 at Lunch.
