Hima Das adds another gold, makes it five in less than a month

Hima Das has taken her game a notch above as she has built on her phenomenal form, winning her 5th gold in less than a month. Hima Das returned to her flagship 400m event and straight-away, won a gold in Tabor Athletics Meet in Czech Republic on Satruday, clocking season-best 52.09 seconds.

This was 19-year-old Hima’s fifth gold in less than a month since the start of her competitive racing in Europe on July 2, 2019.

The first of Hima’s five medals came at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix in Poland on July 2, which was her first competitive race of the year. She clocked 23.65 seconds to clinch gold. She repeated the feat 5 days later when she won yet another gold on July 7, at the Kunto Athletics Meet, which was also held in Poland, clocking 23.97 seconds.

Six days later, Hima found herself on the podium of Kladno Athletics Meet in Czech Republic, finishing with yet another gold with a timing of 23.43 seconds.

Hima had created waves when she won four gold medals in 200m in the space of 15 days, which wasn’t even her pet event.

As she returned to her favoured 400m event, she kept the magnificent run going, furthering her dominance and momentum.  She would be looking to add more laurels to her.

Earlier, Hima even shelled out 50% of her winnings for the Assam relief fund and won a lot of hearts.

Kerala’s MP Jabir also followed Hima Das and w on a 400m gold in the hurdles race, but Mohammad Anas had to settle with a third placed finish in the 200m event.
