PBKS had lost two consecutive games against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (PBKS) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). On April 4 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, PBKS recorded an impressive victory against Gujarat Titans (GT) and that too away from home. Undoubtedly, the hero of the match was  Shashank Singh who smashed a splendid 61-run knock.

Chasing a 200-run target is never an easy job, even on a flat surface that supports the batters. But during the GT vs PBKS clash at Ahmedabad, Punjab Kings successfully chased the 200-run target and became the only team in IPL history to do it for the record 6th time. Before this match, the Punjab-based franchise was tied with Mumbai Indians as both teams had conquered the 200 or 200+ target 5 times. However, after the match against GT which they won by 3-wicket, Preity Zinta’s team upped their level in chasing the target of 200.

Most successful teams to chase 200 or 200+ targets in the IPL

Talking about the GT vs PBKS match, Shashank Singh stole the limelight with his blistering 61-run knock. But there were other batters as well who showcased the batting prowess of the Punjab Kings. The opener Jonny Bairstow gave a fantastic start to Kings with his 23 runs off just 13 balls. Parbhsimran Singh was good too during the chase, he smashed 35 runs off 24 balls. Wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma and pinch-hitter Ashutosh Sharma played an impactful inning of 16 runs (8 balls) and 31 runs (17 balls) respectively.

Notably, Punjab Kings has never won an IPL title, but still, in chasing the 200 or 200+ target, they are ahead of 5-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Interestingly, the only team who had never chased the target of 200 is Gujarat Titans (GT).
